There are only three actual male strip shows in New York City - That’s 3 physical locations. They are: 1) Hunkmania at Club Duvet 45 W.21st Street New York, NY 10010 2) Savage Men 199 Bowery Street New York City and 3) Manhattan Men 225 E Houston Street New York City. If you do a search on Google you’ll find see a ridiculous amount of names of shows, bogus addresses, side door addresses etc.

For example, the location on Houston Street has at last count 32 websites, satellite pages, names addresses and phone numbers. This simply causes confusion in the market place and gives our industry a bad name. Here’s how that works… Say you buy a show ticket for USA Hunks at 225 E Houston St. NYC and you go to the show. You go to that address only to find that you’ve been duped into the same USA Hunks show because… the Essex Street address is the side door to 225 E Houston St!

Brand Stealing

That same location has no trademarks for most of the names it uses.  Google fails to police the search results as well as they should.  Often time’s customers will buy tickets to the wrong show simply because the customer did not pay attention to the URL or web address from where they are buying from.  It could be as simple as having a dash in the name, an extra letter or the city name following the brand name.

VIP Up-Sell Tactic

If you buy a general admission ticket to Houston St location they will make you stand outside until the show starts and pressure you into buying a VIP ticket to get in from the cold.  After that you are directed to your “VIP” table aka… folding table, only to be told at 1030, only to get up from your folding table so they can get the club ready for its dance party patrons.  Before you buy VIP ask EXACTLY what are you getting.  Some of these prices can run as high $650 for folding tables!

Fire Hazard

Source at the Houston Street club tells me the legal occupancy is 308 excluding the folding tables and chairs cluttering the escape routes.  With them the legal occupancy is considerably less.  It is unconscionable that an operator would put the safety of its customers second to profit, but this is the case.  Check the posted sign on the wall whenever you are in a venue.  Note that the NYFD calculates a safe legal capacity without portable furniture like stages, folding tables and folding chairs.  The legal capacity can be reduced by as much at 75% when an operator changes the design of the space with these portable items.  Report unsafe conditions by dialing 311 immediately.  They will send a fire inspector over to investigate within minutes.

Two Drink Minimum Scam

If the moment you walk in the door you get hit with a two drink minimum, be sure you compare it to the prices of the drinks inside the bar.  Although two drink minimums are not a scam on their own you should be aware of how much drinks are in the club .vs what you pay for them in advance or at the door.

Hidden Charges

Before you buy tickets ask if there any hidden charges such as processing fees. The three clubs listed above all own their own website and there shouldn’t be any fees.

Phony “Review” Sites

Let’s get something straight. There is no team running around the city and writing reviews of the male strip shows and then putting up a website about it.  It’s just another phony website that bad mouths all the competition with horrible reviews only to give themselves glorious reviews about their location and claim to be the best.  This INCLUDES the reviews on CITYSEARCH or any other community site.  They are all bull. Do not believe the good or bad reviews.  These reviews are written by hired subcontractors in India. Indian subs work for as little as $2/hr. Their job is to create multiple identities, login and then post the reviews to these various websites.  Do you really believe long winded favorable reviews with 5 stars one after the other? I love the negative reviews as they use words like “stinky” to describe the dancers at the competitor locations. They are all about directing your business to them.  Ask your friends.  You are bound to come across someone who’s been to one of these locations and they can give you a straight and honest answer.

Pole dancing is a fluid dance which must be peformed in continuous movement with differing degrees of difficulty. Improving your grip of the pole on all skin surfaces can be accomplished with grip powders. A really good grip powder is made using thermoplastics which react to body heat and provide improved grip and inhibits sweat and chaffing. Thermoplastic grip powders lasts for hours and easily washes off with soap and water.

The following are some popular pole dancing moves with instruction as to where the body's grip is applied. For best use of the grip powder it may be wise to use it on areas that are used to contact the pole such as legs, arms, feet, and hands. This will surely help when moving from one dance move to another.

Batman pose - In the upside down flat pose position, grip tighter with legs and release your hands. Hang for a moment from your legs, then slide down the pole pole with an arched back in a curved position. The grip powder will allow you to both grip and then slide without catching.

Showgirl - Climb pole, both legs wrapped around it, with the dominant arm in a stabilizing position while extending other arm gracefully. Then detach one leg from pole-grip in similar extension and slide down in this one leg/one arm pose. This move requires both grip strength and fluidity of movement.

Hip Spin - First, grab pole firmly with outside arm high & inside arm low, pull with upper & push with lower hands together while kicking off floor with legs, bending them around pole in cocoon-spinning position, with your tummy flat against the pole. Grip chalk can also be applied to the bare midriff in order to gain a little more leverage.

Vampire - Climb pole & adopt sitting position with crossed legs, then grip pole between thighs before letting go with hands & leaning backwards to hang in that position. Trusting your grip strength with this pose can be daunting without a little added help from the grip powder.

Two-handed coil - Start with the secondary side closest to pole, grip with both hands & kick legs forward, then while swinging back, coil body round pole to spin. This move requires a lot of hand grip strength to hold your body in place, then enough slide in order to spin around the pole.

As you can see, a good grip on many parts of your body will help with the necessary pole dancing positions required for fun or competition. It is necessary in pole dancing to gain grip strength while practicing in order to begin to trust yourself and move on to the next position. Without a good grip powder, the practice time will be greater and you may hurt yourself in the process. Preventing anything negative in the process of getting stronger and more in shape will surely lead to a lifetime of fun and good health.

I never really see that many pairs of plus size jeans out there when I am shopping. However I see women wearing plus size jeans. I have to say this has always confused me and made me wonder where these people shop. I mean I see the small plus size sections in the department stores but they aren't exactly over run with plus size jeans; to be honest al lot of the stuff I see in those sections is spandex, as stereotypical as that sounds. Actually I believe most of the plus size jeans I have seen are spandex.

The plus size jeans I seen on women around the city are for the most part fairly trendy, which is more than I can say for a lot of the plus size clothing I see floating around out there and this aroused my curiosity even more. Do to this curiosity about the location of these plus size jean sources, I looked for some on the internet and it appears there are actually a lot of resources there. However I have always been a little skeptical abut ordering jeans and clothing over the internet. It makes me nervous to order something without knowing what it is going to look like when it is on. I know you can return most of these items but with the mail, and the shipping, and the refunds, it just seems like more of a hassle than it is worth. However maybe this is a huge resource I have been missing out on.

Maybe a lot of this shopping that has been going on in the plus size jean market is happening online; I sure don't see the stores in the mall.
